wykład wygłosi Snorre Karkonnen Svensson
Snorre Karkonnen Svensson is a language specialist, educator, translator, and cultural entrepreneur whose career has been devoted to languages. He studied Latvian and Lithuanian and later taught Norwegian and Latvian at the University of Bergen, as well as Norwegian at the University of Latvia and the Latvian Academy of Culture.
He has extensive experience as a translator and interpreter, mainly working from Latvian and Lithuanian into Norwegian. Beyond academia, he has founded Nordic language and cultural centers in the Baltic states. In 2018, he established the House of Languages in Riga, a cultural hub promoting multilingualism, and has also been involved in initiatives connected to language and cultural museums.
Both Norwegian and Latvian have two written standards, each connected to its own literature and culture. However, the lesser-used languages — Nynorsk and Latgalian — have different positions in their respective countries. This talk examines the similarities and differences between the situations for the lesser-used written standards in the past and present, and reveals the role democracy plays in language diversity. It also presents the digital exhibition Linguapolis — a joint project between Norwegian Museum of Written Culture, the Latgalian NGO Volūda, and Valodu
Wykład odbędzie się w Collegium Novum UAM w Poznaniu, Al. Niepodległości 4
